Seth and his "BULL"
|
One
big problem with making predictions is that well, you can be wrong. I've
always loved making big, grandiose statements, and then spinning like
a mother when they don't turn out like I swore they would. Few things
are more stupid than making predictions about sailboat races, yet that
is what I did for this year's running of The Pac Cup. Here's a look at
how the Great Predictor did:
In Class G,
I said Mari Cha would beat Z5 in for first to finish. Uh, no. Then I said
J-Bird III would win on corrected time in Class G. And they did, but were
handed a two-hour penalty. Scoreboard. Wrong again.
In Class F,
I said that M Project looked to be the best boat with the best rating,
and they were way out in front when their rudder broke. Ooops. I also
said SC 52's would be at the front and rear, so I get some credit. And
I also rightly predicted that Cantata would not get it done, which they
did not, finishing 3rd out of 6 in class, and 45th out of 61 overall.

Class E,
the Santa Cruz 50 class, I thought Gone With the Wind and Octavia would
be strongest, but I had them in the wrong order. I suppose that doesn't
count, does it? Although I get some points for saying that Chicken Little
would not win. They didn't.
Class D,
I thought this race would bring Bull to another win, and although he was
first to finish in his class, he corrected to a rather distant 4th. However,
we are happy that the Antrim 27 ET, a boat we featured here, won the class.
Phenomenal job, girl and boys!
Class C,
found me ranting and raving about what a stupid name Notty Hotty is (and
it still is), but I'll be damned if they didn't dominate that class. I'm
the Retard for picking Petard - they only got beat by almost a full day
on corrected time. Nice job.

Class B,
I'm happy to tell you that my horse in this class, a Cal 40, never even
made the start. Boy, I sure know to pick 'em!
Class A,
I'm pretty sure I didn't care, but I went with Coyote, and they rewarded
me with a DFL. Thanks.
Double handed,
I liked Two Guys and they did a great job, but a 2nd still means that
I was wrong, although they beat the first place boat by over a day on
elapsed time. Look for an Innerview with them very soon.
Well
there you have it. Wrong in every class. Please let me know when I can
make an ass out of myself again.
