Fare Hike?

We could fill this page up every day with people's PHRF bitch fests, but for SoCal sailors the emergence of the R/P 68 Taxi Dancer into the winner's circle of late (featured here recently for winning the Yachting Cup in San Diego) has apparently got other big boats challenging their rating. At issue is the 7' penalty poles Taxi uses, and the rating penalty they received for the poles

In PHRF's rule book, appendix c allows an adjustment of -6 seconds for a SPL change of up to 10% and a -9 adjustment for up to a 15% change. Taxi apparently has a 35% change that, if the formula was followed, would give it a -21 second hit. Although it also states that this change is on an individual basis, at issue is that it would appear Taxi has only been penalized -3 for their pole? Of course when you win, everybody complains about the rating, and here the bitching has begun in earnest, so it looks like a rating change is coming!
