Reports from the Pond

Transpac has begun, and we're going to provide you (hopefully) with daily reports from the voyage across the pond. Bob Boyes, aka Boyer, is arguably the finest downwind helmsman we've ever sailed with. Smooth, fast, consistent and just wickedly good, he's one of the hired guns on David Janes brand new Andrews 52 "J-Bird". He'll tell his tall tales to us on an irregular basis. Or is that irregular tales on a regular basis?

Seth Radow's also brand new Sydney 40 "Bull" left yesterday. Seth, one of the brightest new stars of boat owners in So Cal, will try to squeeze into his nav station for updates as well.

THEY'RE OFF

PEGASUS

The Big Rigs beat feet (albeit slowly) out of L.A. on their way to Honolulu. At this rate we figure the record is fairly safe!

J BIRD GETS THE LEEWARD END

TransPac 6/02/01

Wow wer'e here! The day before Transpac. Gleaming jewels tied in their slips, just one more night in snug harbor before these ferrari's will be let loose on the Pacific. Cowboys and cowgirls and a few punkers ready to ROCK... The boats at this juncture better be ready, for the vast ocean demands it. The amount of time, organization and money to get a boat to compete at this level is ....well its unbelieveable! Some of the boats will just make it, some will win, and others will just n o t. We are hoping our "Duty Now For The Future" will include a sucessfull finish, but there is a lot of story line yet to be written. We will leave Catalina to port tomarrow and start writing our first chapter. The introduction needs no mention because the players are the same just the boats are different.
