HALF MOON BAY YACHT CLUB ABUSE? Abuse might be a bit strong, but somebody has a beef, and here it is. We've done a few words on this below (Bad Moon Rising?) and we got this from the complainant. Hey, Good Times. - Ed ACTUALLY IT STARTED YEARS AGO, BUT IF YOU HURRY , YOU CAN STILL GET YOURS AT THE CLUB ANYTIME To any and all; ex and current members of the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club, who have left due to mistreatment, or are contemplating leaving due to mistreatment, please respond with the intent of providing details to this spokesman in the interest of a class action lawsuit which is being prepared by several ex members; for the purpose of rectifying and vindicating unfair and improper behavior at the HMBYC. Punitive damages are being sought in the cause of Fraud, Misrepresentation,Loss of Consortium, and Breach of Agreement by the HMBYC towards members who have joined under the outlined tenets and bylaws of the club as described on their website. In the interest of securing the privacy of those others involved; at this juncture, I shall not reveal their names; only those of the principals in question. There is a wonderful gentleman there, a retired Marine Captain, who joined in December; whose wife will no longer go to the club, nor attend any function or event of any kind, and who will not even go out boating with her husband because of defacing rude remarks made to her by several other members. Within four months of joining, she has already banned the place. There is another member; one who was in fact a commodore at an early time, who ceased being a member because his kids were made to feel unwelcome; although the club represents itself as being a ' family' affair. This member was also publicly lambasted and had the police called upon him by Ramseyer, last years Commodore; for an incident whereby an article of equipment was loaned, but procured accidentally from the wrong boat. No harm done, no lost sailing time, unit replaced immediately. Ramsayer found cause to really humiliate said member non-the less.He rejoined only many years later at the behest of the Sailing Director and Rear Commodore, with the purpose of sailing in the C-15 fleet. Another departed member, who had also been Rear Commodore at one time, left because his efforts to 'turn the club around' failed time and time again; since it seems that there is a cluster of alcoholics who dominate the energy at the club. and whom the Board of Directors chooses to allow to continue unchecked. Another recently joined member, only into his first three months , has performed a miracle of donated time and effort so far beyond the 'call of duty' that the Ramsayer bully has chosen to insult him behind his back, in front of his wife, twice in ten minutes ; just to make sure that she heard it, and doubling the pain of the offence to the innocent and uninvolved; bystanding slander victim. Another departed member, a gentleman who had been Port Captain for several years, and who had made phenomenal contributions of time and successful efforts, eventually left in disgust after repeated and continual affronts by Ramseyer and others who just couldn't behave in a respectful manner. Thirty members are reputed to have left last year, when Ramsayer was Commodore. Now he's yard boss and complains that there's no space while he parks his unused Jeep inside the fence; still abusing people, and the club .The Harbor District won't even allow the Jeep onto the beach to pull boats out; it's original intention for even being there. These are the main points presentable at this stage, and further material is being compiled. When asked ;most of the local men;people who have lived in Princeton for 30 plus years ;all seem to have similar responses, most notably; local surf Maestro and business owner Jeff Clarke, of Maverick's fame says, "It's a drinking club with a boating problem "; Jeff is not a member, nor in fact are many of the locals, with the main contingent of members being 'out-of-towners' ; who drift down to their watering hole from the back hills of Montara, and Moss Beach, and other land locked locals. Several of the complainants are authentic sailors and boat-men,seamen or what have you, with two or three living aboard at the time ! Other comments were along those veins, with the words denial, alcoholics, big decisions( that the board needs to make about the direction of the club,) and dysfunctional ;were common. The main issues are that there is a contingent of abusive people who are being allowed to continue with their uncalled for defacement and breach of the peace in violation of the written by-laws of the club; namely; "Members and guests shall at all times conduct themselves in a manner which shall not be offensive to other persons in the facility and consistent with generally accepted standards of conduct in public places. " It was never the intention of any of the violated parties to become the brunt of unsavory uncomfortable assaults on their participation in club activites and at no time is their presence at the club ever intended to be an excuse for abuse of any kind. It is this premise that is being protested here and without action, the situation will continue as it has for many years. There are many women who have been hurt needlessly, and who will no longer be any part of the club. And there are many hurt and angry men who have either left or chosen to swallow their prides for the sake of not making waves. THAT IS THE MOST OFFENSIVE OF ALL!! That honorable, paying adults are subjected to abuse and can't dare to stand up because of the humiliation that they will be subject to!! And how many men want their wives coming to them in tears over some adolescent skullduggery from a ' senior ' member ?! Since this effort began, there are three more people on the list. Are you by any chance another of the 'silent victims' in the case?? Sincerely, Spokesman for the Peace, Fred Bloggs RSVP. hmbyclawsuit@yahoo.com |
