We've
had a number of you who have asked about our New Year's Day Race
in Dago on the Blusail 24. Results wise, we didn't do worth a
damn, finishing 12th out of 37. We were saddled with a 78 rating,
which is clearly far too optimistic for what this little boat
actually is. It would appear that this Luca Brenta design is a
quite moderate sportboat, that seems to like a breeze more than
the light. The boat is plenty stiff, and we had way too much crew
weight, so we didn't do the boat any favors there. The boat that
we sailed was very unsorted, so I suspect that with sail and rig
optimization, it could be much quicker than what we got out of
it. With a realistic rating (something above 100, for sure), and
at the price (around 32 grand, sail away), the boat can have a
lot of appeal to a lot of people. www.blusail.com
