Extreme
might be one of the most overused words in the modern lexicon. Extreme
action! Extreme sports! Extreme video! Christ, soft drinks are now Extreme!
What
you see here however, I think we can safely say is Extreme! This is the
latest concept begging to become a reality from our friends at John Swarbrick
International, the folks who bring you the JS 9000. Extreme? How does
115' of length with 11' of beam sound? Extreme?
These
are pics of the model that the boys displayed at the Dusseldorf Boat Show
last week. The JS 100 was designed as a simple and efficient maxi, capable
of securing big race line honors with a racing crew of only six. Nothing
like pushing the envelope! I think though that they need to get their
numbering system down. If the 30' is the JS 9000, then shouldn't the 115
be the JS 34560?
JS
Yachts are also doing a new and serious 45' ocean racing model and they
already have their first European order and some potential USA customers
as well. Construction begins in around 2 months.
The
115' is also designed to be put on the water for a very low price and
realistically campaigned as possibly one of the fastest ocean racing monohull
of all time. Is there an owner out there with the stones to commission
something like this? For the sake of everyone, let's hope so!
