More Sledding

These shots are of the new Alchemy, a 77' Andrews turbo sled being built at Dencho Marine in Cali. Alan tells us that he is very impressed with the way Choate is building the boat, and we believe him. This is a fairly important boat for Andrews and he's going to want it done right. It is supposed to be ready for the Newport to Ensenada race which is April 25, then taken apart and shipped to the Great Lakes. They are not doing Transpac for what they feel is a political deck that is stacked against them. We'll try to find out what that really means.

However, it will be interesting to see how this Quantum inventoried Andrews' design goes against the R/P boats. But at 77', it sort of stands alone as most, if not all, of the new big sleds are designed to the MaxZ 86' rule. As strange as it seems, we understand that berth length limitations in their home port of Santa Barbara, at least in part, prohibited them from building an 86'
