The Real Sportscar!

One of our more prolific contributors to the forum, Sportscar, sent us the picture of the Sportscar he sails on along with this brief comment. Sounds like fun was had on the fun red boat.- Ed

This was taken at the start of Race 5 of the Australian Offshore Keel Championship, which we won. Probably because it was the only race with any reaching in it. Every dog has its day and this one was ours.

We actually sailed one 9 mile leg from Point Richards Channel # 1 to the Spoil Ground marker, faster than Magnavox, the Volvo 60 (formerly EF Language.) We double slotted used our Code 7 fractional assy with the # 2 inside it and sailed straight to the mark at an average of about 17 knots, peaking at over 21 knots.THAT is why we sail this boat! I would kill for a photo of the boat on that leg.

Most of the fleet either couldn't carry spinnakers or ended up way low of the mark and had to struggle back up to it.

Not too bad for a fifteen year old boat?
