B&G&SA

We are pleased to announce B&G as out new SA forum title sponsors. They have been as true to the sport as any, and they obviously recognize that SA is a good place to be. Here are a few words from them to you.

What do Key West Race Week, The NOOD Regattas, J-Fest, Whidbey Island Race Week, the Queens Cup, and now Sailing Anarchy have in common? They are great places to sail or visit to learn and share knowledge about your sport, what else? They all share sponsorship by B&G. We put our event marketing dollars where they will do the most good for you, the sailor. Our sponsorship of Sailing Anarchy’s spirited forums is a logical extension of this philosophy. We welcome the discourse and are happy to be a part of this site.

You’ve become used to seeing the “B&G guy” on the dock at major events as we follow through on this commitment by putting people in the field and on the water racing. Our race specialists are out there practicing what we preach learning better ways to use our gear and passing these along to you as well as providing real time feedback to the R&D team so we can build even better products for you.

Founded in 1956 by two British WWII officer/engineers, Major Brookes & Major Gatehouse, B&G is one of the oldest companies in the recreational marine business. But you shouldn’t equate old with old fashioned, always in the lead B&G systems have evolved over the years into dedicated state-of-the-art sailing computer systems. The “victory list” goes on and on, America’s Cup, Volvo Race, Transpac, Transatlantic, Bermuda, Pac Cup, Mac Races, Fastnet and more, it is a safe bet that the record holder and the top competitors sailed with B&G systems.

Don’t think that our gear is only for the Grand Prix gold plated “yachts”, we have entry level systems designed to give the average sailor access to superior sensing technology and many of the algorithms used in the top end, we offer great value at the entry level and are second to none at the top. Whether you start with the h1000 system, the Hydra 2000 or the full on grand prix Hercules MP based system you have a choice that is right for your sailing requirements.

Look for product and regatta support announcements here, you will see it first on SA. Coming in September will be our hand held wireless system controller. This is a very cool device, it uses Bluetooth technology to put a wireless B&G display in your hands, it is a full function remote display with the ability to control your autopilot as well. This unit will retrofit to any Hydra or Hercules system built in the last 10 years. Think of it as a hand held tactician’s display. It even has a hand-bearing compass built in.

You can see it first at the Newport International Boat Show from September 16th to the 19th in Booth # 35 tent C. We will also have it at the Annapolis Show in October.
