Big Olympic Star Class Changes

According to our sources, due to the incredible increase in the cost of racing a Star boat (most are citing the unprecendented spending by the Euro's - with some teams thought to be spending in excess of $250,000 - as the main culprits), The Olympic Committee has put forth a radical change in the Star Class. Not only are the size of the budgets seriously curtailed, there are big crew changes, and the boats themselves have a significantly different look.

Yes it's true, this is the new Star boat, intended to put everyone on an equal footing, so to speak. The cost will be minimal and so it is unlikely Paul Cayard, for example, will have to continue his "strict regiment of physical training" or hire a masseuse, or spend $100,000 for this Olympic go around.

Plus there will be no Juan K design oddities here - just straight one design boats. As an interesting twist to this new Star Class arena of racing, the crews will have to carry their skippers on their backs (like many claim they have been doing anyway) as they walk around "sailing" their new boats. Perhaps the Greeks have an edge here?

The above is of course a parody
