It Looks Good. Really.
From
the report before Hobart 04 I mentioned the dinosaur Volvo 60 that used
to be know as Dennis Conner's Toshiba. It was in the Noakes shed being
extended and turboed for an owner with way too much money and not enough
common sense. Well, we finally managed to get some pics of the beast that
didn't break the camera.
The
sugar scoop they placed on the transom actually created a beautiful, slender
boat. The bowspirit....well, that's another matter.
The spirit itself is some 12 inches wide at deck level (more than big
enough to walk down), while the bobstay is not only a solid piece of glass,
but at least an inch and half thick (athwartships) and 9 inches wide.
Designed perfectly to smash (not slice) it's way through waves. And as
for the port side delamination you can see in the photo....remember SMASH,
not slice !
