Uh...Whatever We get letters, most of which we ignore. Not really. This one if funny because we don't hammer Russell Coutts, in fact we think he's one of the best in the world, a decent bloke and good for the game. But......- Ed Hi guys, I am an X professional sailor and businessman in Europe "that has about had enough of the Russell Coutts bashing on your site”. All of you weekend sailors have a stick up your ass about the man and I would like to make some positive comments on that is Mr. Russell Coutts: He is the best AC sailor in the history of the cup (and still is young) The most dynamic person in the AC (otherwise we would all be asleep) An excellent guy and father of three great kids (not easy) Believe it or not very loyal to NZ (gave them enough chances to get their shit together) Was my only reason for watching the last two-cup races (I gave up with Sir Michael Fay with the great white goose). Created a great story of the son of a foreman (Michael Fay's foreman was RC's Dad)! And he kicked ass and made himself a great champion! Only wants to bring sailing into a money sport! (If he were a shit NFL player on the bench he would be making USD10 Mil a year for doing nothing!! Is successful so everyone hates him (the more reason for him not to give a shit!) Is one (if not the only skippers) to be able to walk away from the money (Alinghi cost him a lot of bread...millions) and he did it! I don't think Brad Butterworth would have ever had the integrity to do the same walk...that is why he is a hero! IT'S VERY OBVIOUS IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY ONLY! So Sailing Anarchy I would give the man a boost and start writing about why you guys in sailing land are not standing behind the guy whom will most probably break the final records for a 4th AC win! With a bit of support you should force the rich kid from Geneva to break the Alinghi contract that we all know is complete bullshit!! It's time to get over Russell leaving little NZ and for everyone to grow up! And if NZ were smart they would pay anything to get him back and win the cup for NZ!!! Now that's a reason to watch a boring race on TV at 3:00 in the morning in Europe! Without the tension and dynamics of Russell Coutts the AC would have been dead a long time ago - - - and you all know that this is true! So let’s get to work and break the Coutts clause in the new rules of the AC Swiss team!!!! Russell needs a friend now and the sailing world owes him a favor. Kind regards, Normal
